Can Therapy Help Me?

When we are feeling distressed, therapy can help us learn both practical skills to manage crisis, and also gain a better understanding of “how I got here.” My goal is to help you understand your own history and relationship patterns more deeply, and support you when you want to make improvements to your life.  I will empathically and non-judgmentally help you to develop greater self-acceptance and make meaningful changes to manage your emotions. Starting therapy with me will be a step towards emotional growth, and towards becoming a more skilled, insightful, and stronger version of yourself.

I treat people experiencing a wide range of life situations and disorders, including:

  • Life Transitions (loss, bereavement, isolation, health problems)
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma and PTSD (childhood sexual/physical/emotional abuse, combat)
  • Navigating difficult relationships
  • Identity and social challenges
  • Difficulty managing emotions
  • Stress or anger management
  • Substance abuse

Sometimes all you need is a few consultation sessions — to manage stress, brainstorm goals together, and evaluate next steps in your personal or professional life. Often, therapy is short-term and focuses on understanding and coping with temporary problems. Other times, therapy is more insight-oriented and open ended. I can help you more deeply understand your life story, problematic patterns, and identify opportunities for growth.
